In May 2024, there was no contact from BT Openreach against the proposed installation of eight new 8mtr poles to be placed opposite the fishery in East Stockwith. The village notice board was erected. There was no response from LCC Highways regarding ‘slow down horses’ signage.
In July 2024, LC Printing permanently closed. No other printing companies could be sourced for the Parish newsletter. Fly tipping and rural crime was discussed. Residents were asked for ideas to enhance the memorial area. There was no response.
In September 2024, the speed of some cars using Little Walk was brought to the attention of the Parish Council. There was an agreement to request an Archer Survey from LCC. There were concerns from residents regarding the danger to animals from the riverbank spraying by the Environment Agency. It was confirmed that the product sprayed would be MCPA/24D used to control docks and nettles and largely harmless to animals. Signs had been erected by contractors. There was no interest regarding the Parish Council vacancy. It was noted that one member of the public had attended the Parish Council meetings over the last year.
In November 2024, the Parish Council notified residents that the December 2024 Newsletter would be the last. Parish Council meeting' agendas and minutes are on ESPC website and the village notice board along with other relevant information. LCC agreed to carry out the Archer Survey early 2025. The Memorial Service was well attended. A proposal was put forward for a red robin hedge to enhance the Memorial area and the Council agreed to approach East Stockwith and Walkerith Village Hall Trust for funds, given that the War Memorials belong to both East Stockwith and Walkeith. Cllr Bainborough offered to share the labour costs with the Parish Council. The Precept was retained at £5,000.
By January 2025, there had been no queries regarding ceasing of the Parish newsletter. Information had been placed on the village notice board, website and facebook as agreed. The request for funding for the red robin bushes had been submitted to the Trust. Cllr Barratt had been in contact with Inspector Michael Head and PC Connor Brandwood regarding rural crime. Cllr Barratt and Cllr W Forington will consider attending the Parish Council Engagement Sessions when relevant. The Environment Agency had cut the overgrown willows on the riverbank running from the end of Carr Lane through to Walkerith.
4. The Chairman thanked all Cllrs and the Clerk for their support throughout the year.
5. The meeting closed at 7.20pm.
