 East Stockwith Parish Council Meeting

17th January 2023 at 7pm

Minutes

Present:  Cllr D Forington, Cllr W Forington, Cllr C Bainborough, Cllr J Barratt, Cllr C Connolly, Cllr A Harris

The minutes of the meeting held on the 15.11.2022 were agreed as a true and accurate record.

2, Matters arising from the minutes

The Parish Council confirmed that the matter regarding the impact and potential damage due to large and high lorries passing down Little Walk was now closed. The Council was satisfied that all possible action had been taken to resolve the matter.

The Parish Council confirmed that the matter regarding the speed of cars passing through the village was now closed. The Council was satisfied with the results of the Archers Survey and had also joined the Community Speed Watch Scheme. 

3. Adjournment for public participation

Sheila Bibb, Conservative Party Organiser, attended the meeting in an impartial role with the aim of highlighting WLDC forthcoming elections for those who might be interested in getting involved locally. Sheila also spoke about understanding real concerns local people had. 

4. Grass cutting, dog fouling

The Parish Council confirmed that grass cutting in the village is carried out on a voluntary basis. The Council said it was very grateful to all residents for their voluntary support.

The Parish Council agreed to follow up on replacing missing dog fouling signs either by contacting LCC or purchasing these. The Clerk to follow up.

5. The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III

The Parish Council will not be planning for the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Those residents wishing to arrange village celebrations should instead approach East Stockwith and Walkerith Village Hall Trust. Whilst the Trustees have a duty to ensure the proper use of the Trust funds, residents can put forward suggestions, ideas or projects but  these must meet the laid down criteria that they will be viable and will be for the betterment of those residents in East Stockwith and Walkerith. 6. Parish Council Elections 4th May 2023

The Clerk will attend a briefing session and keep up to date with the arrangements for the May elections to ensure all election arrangements are prepared in good time.  

7.  Finance

  • Precept 2023/24, Final Precept claim of £5,000 to be submitted by 27.01.2023.
  • The Chair, two Councillors and the Clerk signed the Precept form as required.
  • Financial position at bank 30.12.2022, £8,851.28.
  • Accounts presented to 30.12.2022 and to date.
  • Draft budget for 2023/24 presented for information.
  • Cheques for signature: LALC Subscription, £82.06.
  • Cheques paid since last meeting: LCC CSW £50.00, LC Printing £23.40.
